Description

Advances in Care for Anxiety, Trauma & Bereavement: Interdisciplinary Treatment Strategies & A Review of Evidence-Based Research

This dynamic and interactive one-day conference is designed to bring mental health and primary care clinicians up-to-date with advances in the diagnosis and treatment of anxiety disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and complicated grief (CG).

Anxiety disorders – including generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social anxiety disorder (SAD), and panic disorder (PD) – as well as the stressor-induced conditions of PTSD and CG are among the most prevalent, distressing and impairing of all psychiatric conditions. Improving outcomes for individuals with anxiety disorders, PTSD and CG is dependent upon recognizing their associated risk factors, neurobiology, and core diagnostic features. This leads to early and effective identification of these conditions, as well as wider utilization of appropriate evidence-based treatment approaches.

During this conference, expert faculty provide an overview on developments in the diagnostic criteria for PTSD, GAD, SAD and PD, as well as the latest evidence for pharmacological and behavioral treatment strategies. In addition, faculty present an introduction to the assessment and treatment of CG, a prolonged bereavement-specific syndrome characterized by traumatic and separation distress.
